Laundry Room Organizing Ideas

  • Wire racks, wooden shelves, old kitchen cupboards found at re-use shops or garage sales make great storage above the washer and dryer

  • Give each child a laundry basket to keep in their closet and put dirty clothes into, instead of piling them on the floor

  • Train even the youngest child to sort colours and fold laundry. They should be responsible for their own clothing. Allow them to choose between two outfits that you have selected for them. That way, they get to make the decision.

  • If you have enough laundry, make it a habit to throw a load in the washer every morning. The first one home can take it out and put it in the dryer.

  • Keep a sponge or rag handy to clean the machine tops while you are waiting the for the washer to fill up with water.
