Kitchen Organizing Ideas

  • Place wire shelves on legs on the deeper shelves to double the storage space

  • Turn a clean glass pie plate upside down over your recipe to keep it from being splattered.

  • Stand your cookie sheets and other pans on their edges to save room

  • Store any dishes or equipment that you only use once a year in the basement to free up space in the kitchen

  • Create a pantry in the basement if your kitchen is small, to store extra supplies of canned and paper goods

  • Keep a running shopping list on the fridge door

  • Create a baking center, a cooking center, a food storage center and keep all the related items at each center

  • Keep a plastic container in the freezer to collect leftover vegetables. When it is full, thaw and blend together, then freeze in ice cube trays to use for soups.

  • Line up your spices alphabetically so that they'll be easy to locate.

  • Post a list of all the spices on hand on the inside of the cupboard door. That way you'll know at a glance if you have what a recipe calls for.
