Dining Room  Organizing

  • Try to keep nothing but dining materials in the dining room

  • Use the walls to display plates and spoons

  • Don't allow the table to become a dumping ground for incoming mail and other items - clear it off after dinner each evening and place a large and beautiful centerpiece in the middle

  • Designate specific areas of the china cabinet and buffet for certain items - all the wine glasses on one shelf, etc.

  • Make sure that items used are returned to their proper places. That way they will be easy to locate the next time you need them

  • Use a picnic basket or stacking baskets to store linens

  • Make a running list for when you have guests. After each dinner party ask yourself what could have gone better? Then arrange things to make it happen next time. For example, if you had to rush around at the last minute looking for a trivet to put the hot vegetables on, add it to your list.
