Assign a corner or special area for each group of items.
Use wooden or metal shelving units to hold boxes and baskets.
Gather up all the loose items and put them in containers.
Label everything. Label all boxes on the sides as well as the tops. Use either words or pictures.
Use different coloured containers for different types of storage.
For example, all the Christmas decorations in green plastic containers, Halloween decorations in black.
Clear containers are usually the best, because it makes it easy to identify the contents, but sometimes coloured ones are better bargains.
Consider giving away or selling a lot of the things you never use. The less you have, the less you have to take care of.
Try to get everything possible off the floor and onto shelves so that they don't get damaged by moisture.
