· The best storage containers are thick clear plastic. You will be able to see the contents and no moisture, insects or rodents will be able to get at them.

 

· Store seasonal articles such as Christmas decorations together. Wreaths can be hung from the rafters.

 

· Assign a location for each group of items.

 

· Things that you can’t bear to part with, but have a permanent home in the attic can be stored in the farthest to reach areas.

 

· Don’t store bird seed or other edibles in the attic. It may attract mice or bats.

 

· Consider building custom shelves and storage units that fit the shape of the attic.

 

· Don’t forget the storage offered in suitcases, trunks and furniture that is stored up there.

 

· Label the sides of boxes so that you don’t have to rearrange them every time you are looking for something.
