· Assign a corner or special area for each group of items.

 

· Use wooden or metal shelving units to hold boxes and baskets.

 

· Gather up all the loose items and put them in containers.

 

· Label everything. Label all boxes on the sides as well as the tops. Use either words or pictures.

 

· Use different coloured  containers for different types of storage.

 

· For example, all the Christmas decorations in green plastic containers, Halloween decorations in black.

 

· Clear containers are usually the best, because it makes it easy to identify the contents, but sometimes coloured ones are better bargains.

 

· Consider giving away or selling a lot of the things you never use. The less you have, the less you have to take care of.

 

· Try to get everything possible off the floor and onto shelves so that they don’t get damaged by moisture.
